About ISA

The University of Toronto Ismaili Students Association (Toronto ISA) is a student-run organization at the University of Toronto that strives to unite Ismaili Muslim students in the area, while making a difference in the community. It is dedicated to developing the spiritual, physical, academic, social, and cultural well-being of post-secondary institution members.

We organize several events throughout the year which ensure and foster a dynamic and active family atmosphere while at University. The Toronto ISA is led by an elected Executive Committee.

Please feel free to navigate through this website for more information on our upcoming events.

I am a 3rd year student double majoring in Human Biology and Psychology and I hope to pursue a career in medicine. The ISA has become an important part of my life over the past two years, and I’m extremely excited to help make this year a great one! Outside of the ISA, my hobbies include music, cooking, and, of course, studying...like any other U of T student.

Hi, my name is Azmaira Halani and I am the Treasurer. I am a third year student studying Commerce and specializing in Finance and Economics. I am from Dubai and am in Canada just for university. This is my 2nd year of being an exec member for the ISA and I am very excited for the upcoming year! The ISA is a great place to meet new people and take a break from our intense academic lives. I’m hoping that this year will be a great success in attracting more people to events and the most important thing is for everyone to feel welcomed and at home. The ISA has always been a great support for me especially in my first year. I hope that everyone who is involved with the ISA has a great experience just like I’ve been having.

My name is Neena Allidina, and I'm thrilled to be your Sports, Health & Lifestyle Representative for the 2011-2012 year. I strongly advocate that sports are a fantastic opportunity to develop teamwork skills, commitment, self-confidence and humility. I firmly believe that whether you win or lose, the lessons you learn about life through sports will carry long past your playing years. When I'm not playing hockey or soccer, I attend lectures, labs and tutorials and pretend to study to work towards my Civil Engineering degree at U of T. While I have a myriad of ideas I want to implement to promote a healthy lifestyle for our ISA members, I welcome any suggestions you may have.
My name is Leila, I was born in Toronto and I am a Frosh Rep on the ISA exec. I am a first year Kinesiology student. I was a competitive gymnast and am currently playing ice hockey, basketball and soccer as well as doing dance. I love trying new things and I am always up for a challenge. As frosh rep, I hope to make the first year experience the best it can be.
I’m Nauman Sohani, a first year student in Mechanical Engineering and a Frosh rep on the ISA exec. My ultimate career goal is to design clean energy transportation. I’m a huge sports enthusiast and I enjoy following Toronto teams. I am dedicated to planning and organizing fun and productive events to better connect with members of our ISA, other ISAs, as well as clubs within U of T. I know this year’s leadership will be held accountable for the events it puts forward and I want to make sure we leave a lasting imprint!
My name is Naureen Punjwani and I am in the 2nd year of my M.Eng in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (Environmental Engineering Collaborative).
